We are creating innovative, cost/benefit solutions for the most complex construction challenges. And always, ensuring faster and safer execution by managing every aspect of your project, from pre-installation through completion.
We bring our financial strength, industry relationships, and reputation as a commercial av company to work on every home building project.
Multimedia Tech provides a full spectrum of pre-installation services, as you would expect from one of the nation’s leading commercial AV installation companies.
The Multimedia Tech difference lies in our ability to confidently and consistently interpret and deliver results as only a commercial av builder can do.
Our passion for continuous improvement has inspired us to develop some of the most innovative and accurate pre-construction processes and tools in the industry.
From the use of sustainable construction practices to budget estimating, design reviews, and more, our services vary based on project delivery method, market requirements, and our unique client needs.
What doesn’t vary are the results—detailed, accurate, and complete data up front, allowing for informed decision-making, and close cost control and schedule adherence from end-to-end?
The following are pre-installation services Multimedia Tech provides for the full range of Delivery Methods and Markets:
- Budget Development and Estimating
Multimedia Tech’s pre-installation teams understand how critical our early estimates are to your project’s success.
We practice a continuous process of cost control, beginning on the first day as part of the project team.
From that day forward, we focus on realistic budgeting, accurate documentation and ongoing review of costs to help you maximize your budget dollars.
Using our proprietary estimating tools and databases, as well as timely information from the marketplace, our experienced in-house team of estimators collaborates with the project team in the development of an early, accurate budget.
As the design develops, we maintain a watchful eye toward the budget, providing advice as to cost, schedule, and constructability, as only a real commercial av builder can do.
- Value Analysis
Multimedia Tech’s systematic and proactive approach to value analysis maximizes the effect of every project dollar spent and is a critical component of our process.
These include cost analysis, identification of alternatives, installation feasibility, considerations relative to labor and material availability, and effect on the project schedule.
Our role is to investigate and suggest viable design alternatives that will avoid unnecessary expenditures and provide improved value and economy while maintaining the design intent and owner goals.
During the value analysis review we consider, all expenditures relating to installation, maintenance, and operation.
- LEED/Green Installation
Multimedia Tech encourages all clients and partners to incorporate sustainable design and green construction methods regardless of project goals.
We bring an understanding of potential cost implications, as well as subcontractor and vendor relationships, to reach the desired sustainability or certification level.
- Constructability Reviews
Based on our years of experience, the Multimedia Tech pre-installation team reviews the design documents to ensure the materials are explicit, the installation details efficient, and the proper coordination of architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Virtual Design & Construction Technology
At Multimedia Tech, utilizing Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) technology provides our builders the ability to virtually model, design, visualize, estimate, plan and build before we run a cable in the wall.
From collaborating and estimating in design to detail planning at the project level, Multimedia Tech installers integrate VDC technology into our process so the project team can continually improve efficiency, constructability, quality, and ultimately predictability on our projects.
Here is where the rubber truly meets the road.
You can have all the systems and procedures known to man, but even the most forward-thinking technology is all but useless in the wrong hands.
Multimedia Tech’s installation services focus on finding and training the best installers in America-this is where our actual value lies.
During the installation phase of a project, whether it’s a new healthcare facility, a high performance/green construction or designing a building project, Multimedia Tech mobilizes our on-site staff of experienced and knowledgeable installers—acting as the owner’s eyes and ears and interacting closely with the project team throughout the process.
In addition to our extensive Safety and Quality programs, the services that can be provided by the Multimedia Tech team during construction include:
- Project Scheduling
Multimedia Tech provides a system of schedule development and continual monitoring that enables flexibility and encourages communication.
Multimedia Tech’s project schedules are highly accurate in projecting installation durations and extremely detailed in the amount of information we provide to the project team.
We combine historical data with the knowledge of the local installation environment and our experience as creative commercial AV installers.
We implement principles of lean installation into our scheduling approach to make the process highly efficient, convening regular meetings between our project staff and installers to ensure schedule compliance.
- Equipment and Material Procurement
During pre-installation, Multimedia Tech identifies “long lead time” material and equipment purchases, working closely with the design team to develop a procurement strategy.
Multimedia Tech frequently procures significant items of equipment before the start of installations decided by the project team. Or, if requested, it provides all the equipment required if agreed.
Multimedia Tech has a long history as a successful self-performing commercial AV contractor.
We’re not just a “source” of commercial AV installers -we are capable of performing the most critical work to drive the project schedule and set quality standards for the project.
- Minority Mentoring
Multimedia Tech has, for the past five years, implemented a wide range of Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) compliance programs.
If required, our policy is to contract with the subcontractor who can best comply with the requirements of the bid documents and demonstrate the ability to deliver the performance of the highest quality in an accurate, timely fashion.
- Quality Assurance/Quality Planning
Multimedia Tech’s integrated approach to quality begins in the earliest stages of a project, through pre-installation, installation and past final completion.
Quality initiatives include the most reputable brands, the highest product qualities, one of the best warranties on the field, Quality Incident Reporting, Low Voltage Coordination Program, and Site-Specific Quality Plan.
The aim of adopting the commissioning process on your project is simple-to ensure all audiovisual systems are fully functional when you occupy the facility.
Multimedia Tech fully integrates an owner’s commissioning process into the project by embedding your commissioning authority as part of the project team and combining the detailed commissioning requirements from the specifications into the project through a commissioning responsibility matrix.
Multimedia Tech then coordinates commissioning activities as the building AV systems are installed, started, tested and calibrated, and documented.
We conduct training sessions with staff and users on the operation of all systems, as well as ongoing first-year involvement in the annual testing and training of commissioning activities to continue proper system operation.
Post Construction Close-out starts on Day 1.
Multimedia Tech takes pride in our ability to close out projects quickly. Our processes begin on Day 1, as our team identifies required items for final project completion, and then we pursue them, so nothing is left incomplete.
At the start of the post-installation services, we compile a close-out checklist-utilizing a computerized database to monitor items required for final project completion, such as warranties, last lien releases, as-built drawings, and extra stock materials.
- Our Quality Program Avoids Punch Lists.
Multimedia Tech’s comprehensive Quality Program we proactively establish the owner’s, architect’s, project manager’s and engineer’s expectations of the final product through mock-ups, eliminating the majority of typical punch list items.
Our reinforcement of these expectations through pre-installation meetings, first installation verifications, and ongoing verifications and testing provides you with the right thing the first time.
- We close out all installations at lightning speed.
We begin by identifying incomplete items and issuing notifications to each installer-items, such as punch list issues, O&M manuals, warranties, and as-built drawings.
Once all punch list items are complete. We leave the path open for your verification.
The Multimedia Tech team works closely with the fire marshal, building department, and inspectors to define and implement an occupancy plan.
When it occurs phased occupancy, Multimedia Tech obtains temporary permits for those new sections on time.
- We follow up on guarantees and warranties.
Multimedia Tech and the project owner establish a date for beginning the Guarantee/Warranty period.
We follow up on warranty issues and review these with the owner quarterly.
We first obtain all guarantees and warranties, test certificates, and other paperwork required by the contract documents.
We present the owner with all equipment brochures and operating manuals, including lists of equipment manufacturers and service providers, in your preferred, easy-to-use format.
Also, we furnish a list of equipment manufacturers, including contact information and expiration dates of all guarantee/warranty periods.
We coordinate warranty work orders through correction or repair.
Finally, Multimedia Tech provides as part of our warranty commitment a one-year warranty inspection.
- We tie up all loose ends.
The Multimedia Tech project staff arranges for removal of field offices, termination of temporary services and utilities, and final site clean-up and preparation.
We obtain final inspections from required government agencies and forward copies of signed acceptance forms to the owner.
Regardless of the delivery method, our approach to every project is the same—industry-leading safety, quality, and project management processes to surpass your expectations.
Each building market and the owner may potentially select different delivery methods to best plan, design, and construct their project.
We have experience with the full range of these, ranging from Hard Bid, where Multimedia Tech has no involvement during the design phase, to Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), where Multimedia Tech plays an integral role beginning early the design process.
The following highlights the range of our experience:
- Hard Bid
Multimedia Tech is awarded a “lump sum” contract for installation services as a result of a price competition based on client-provided contract documents.
- Construction Management (CM)
Multimedia Tech performs pre-installation and installation phase services and is not contracted to self-perform facets of the work.
Over 90% of our CM services are conducted on an “at-risk” basis, with Multimedia Tech holding all subcontracts and guaranteeing the cost/schedule.
The balance of our CM services is “for a fee”—in which the client holds all subcontracts.
During the CM process, Multimedia Tech is involved with the owner, architect, and consultants from conceptual design through construction and until the facility is operational and occupied.
Multimedia Tech’s diversified services offer clients complete control over cost, schedule, constructability, quality, start-up, and warranties.
- General Contracting (GC)
Multimedia Tech performs pre-installation and installation phase services that are awarded as a result of contract negotiations and does self-perform facets of the work.
Multimedia Tech tradespeople self-perform a wide variety of civil and structural work for commercial audiovisual systems, as well as selected finishes and equipment installation.
By performing the most critical portions of installation with our forces, Multimedia Tech exercises maximum control over cost, schedule, and quality-related issues.
If needed, all subcontracts are held by Multimedia Tech, and the cost/schedule is guaranteed, with the cost contracted on a “lump sum” or “guaranteed max” basis.
- Construction Management/General Contracting (CM/GC)
Multimedia Tech performs a combination of the two delivery methods described above as a result of contract negotiations.
Pre-installation services are conducted before the project start; during the installation phase, Multimedia Tech may self-perform facets of the work.
- Design-Assist (DA)
Multimedia Tech brings an expanded team to the project during pre-installation to augment the design team in their efforts.
A primary focus of Design-Assist is for the commercial AV installers to work side-by-side with the design professionals to create the best solution to meet all of the owner’s needs.
Besides, through our VDC technology program, we significantly enhance the sharing and transfer of information from design to installation, streamlining the process.
- Design-Build (DB)
Multimedia Tech executes a “single source” contract, which includes all services for planning, designing, finishing, and commissioning of a project.
In concert with our VDC technology in design-build, Multimedia Tech brings the leadership and management to virtually build the project in the design collaborating with all team members.
This includes having 100% shop drawings completed as part of the design. Contracts are “for a fee” or “lump sum.”
- Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)
Multimedia Tech enters into a joint agreement between the owner, the design team, and the construction team to provide collaborative design and installation, with incentives shared by all team members when the project goals are achieved.
IPD projects enable Multimedia Tech to fully integrate our installer’s approach, safety program, quality program, and VDC technology to achieve success for all team members.
